Liquid Chromatography with Tandem Mass Spectrometry Detection (LC-MS/MS) is used extensively by SGS M-Scan for pharmaceutical, biochemical and other analytical areas. SGS M-Scan has a range of ‘Triple Quad’, ‘Q-TOF’ and ‘Q-Trap’ instruments available to cover a broad range of applications ranging from accurate Mass Measurement and structural characterisation of unknowns to trace-level quantitative bioanalysis.

Typical applications for these techniques include:

  • On-line LC-MS/MS using either ES-MS or APCI-MS is available to generate structurally informative fragments and hence assist in tentative structural elucidation of pharmaceutical, biochemical and proteomic compounds.

  • Accurate Mass Measurement by Q-TOF to provide empirical formula to add confidence to structural information above.
